We love these venues for their excellent acoustics and tranquility and they are great for our instruments. They are easily accessible via public transport and it’s possible to park on local streets within a few blocks, or in the church parking lot (Mission Dolores).

Please sit and savor our diverse program. The Palo Alto concert will be the world premier of our three new compositions: Golden Gate Drive, Steel Harp, and Chrysopylae Reflections. Two of the composers will be with us for the Berkeley and Mission Dolores and be giving pre-concert lectures.

We start our program with an electrifying version of Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man (with soloists on electric mandolin and guitar). Later we drift off into Satie’s enchanting poems with musical accompaniments, read by actress Angela Neff. Twila Ehmcke sings Vivaldi’s aria, "Transit Aetas" from Oratorium "Juditha Triumphans", a rare piece originally for solo mandolin with pizzicato violins. We finish with a rousing Tarantella and Bolero from Napoli’s Rafaelle Calace – the same family that made several of the instruments played by orchestra members.

We are giving a shorter program – without the Satie, or Vivaldi at the event on Marina Green Sunday, May 27, 1.55 pm. It’s part of the main celebrations for the Bridge Anniversary on Marina Green and Crissy Field. Please see www.goldengatebridge.org for all the information. It will be on an outdoor stage and amplified – but it’s a free event!
