East Bay POSSE Party - Potluck and Permaculture Skillshares

  • Oct 28, 2012 · 2:00 PM
  • This location is no longer available

Come help us celebrate the harvest with our first POSSE in the East bay. We'll be having urban-harvest themed workshops and skillshares at a sustainability-based collective in Fruitvale.

POSSE stands for Potluck-Orientation-Skillshare-Swap-Event and is a great opportunity to meet fellow timebankers, learn something, eat great food, and have fun.

This will be the first of a recurring series of events with different themes and skillshares, so if you can't make it this time, don't worry! We'll be having another one soon enough.

UPDATE:

We will be hosting Paul Sheldon of Oakland's "Planting Justice" for a presentation and discussion about Urban Permaculture, Post-Incarceration Reintegration, and Community Fund Raising!!

Schedule:

2:00-3:00  --  Mingle, Potluck, Orientation

3:00-4:00  --  Planting Justice: Urban Permaculture as a Model for                          Post-Incarceration Reintegration

4:30-5:30  --  Intro to Vermiculture (WORMS!!)

This was an amazing gathering of a small group of people. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of lessons learned about online-recruiting/invitations. Otherwise, it was awesome! We had Paul Sheldon of Planting for Justice lead a discussion about post-incarceration rituals, fundraising, and other awesome things. Hope that these keep going, with different houses/organizations hosting every time! Let me know if you'd like to host one and need any help :D

Also: the house is within walking distance of the Fruitvale BART station
    AND
Please think about bringing a favorite harvest-time dish to share!
We look forward to seeing y'all

That would be great, Raines!! I was hoping someone would be willing to host the next one. Hopefully we can get a good rotation going!

Is anyone interested in volunteering for an hour or more at this event? We're still a little low on help.
