Bay Area Entomophagy - edible insects & more! Message Board › Post-meetup report
San Francisco, CA
Last night was our inaugural meetup. We met at Smuggler's Cove, in San Francisco, to share some of our edible insect stories.
Smuggler's Cove was rather busy, but we took over a couple of tables downstairs and had a great time. Our waxworm baklava turned out delicious (an easy introduction to eating insects, since you could hardly distinguish them from the rest of the filling).
We're about to start planning our next event, so let us know if you have any:
- Ideas for what you'd like to see
- Cool venues we should check out
- Parts of the Bay Area you'd like us to be
We could do anything from a bug barbecue in Golden Gate Park to guest lectures by people in the entomophagy community. Please do let us know what you'd like to see :)
Finally, as members of Bay Area Entomophagy, we'd like to introduce you to our new community platform: Entoculture.
It's a social news site, purpose-built for the edible insects community. It's the first of its kind for our industry, and we think it'll be a valuable hub for anyone interested in insects as food. You have to be invited to join, so if you'd like to be a member just drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Until next time,
