THE GOURMET FUN STUFF

* Wine-tasting Farm-to-Fork dinner

* Tour & tasting with Apollo Olive Oil or Sierra d'Oro

* Tasting & discussion with winemakers with Renaissance Winery, Grant & Eddie, or Clos Saron

* Harvest your own Oil! Pick olives and take them to the mill to press into oil. Get discounted prices on this premium olive oil.

THE PLAN

FRIDAY: EVENING ARRIVAL
Tasting: Grant & Eddie Winery

Welcome to Yuba! Meet for an informal wine reception with Grant & Eddie Wines. Catch up and watch the sun set over the hills.

SATURDAY: FOOTHILLS, HARVEST & FARM-TO-FORK
Hike: Yuba foothill walk or Balk Rock
4-8 miles • Moderate difficulty: rolling to mountainous terrain
Tasting: Renaissance Vineyard or Clos Saron

After breakfast we’ll walk the scenic hilltop, towards the Yuba river and/or into the nearby national forest. Stop for a lunch and soak in the scenery. Pass around fresh-baked bread, artisan cheeses and local sun-ripened fruit. It doesn’t get much better than this!

In the afternoon we'll have a chance to harvest olives and/or meet with the winemaster of Clos Saron or Renaissance. Return home in the evening to shower and change.

Then……dinner!!! Prepare for an amazing 4-course extravaganza of local delicacies, all expertly prepared by a talented and passionate local chef. Think homemade cheeses, locally-raised meats, home-baked bread, organic garden veggies, wild greens and more. From appetizer to dessert you’ll get a true feeling of what north Yuba has to offer.

And then the wine!! The dinner expertly paired with local Renaissance wines. They've agreed to let us dig deep into their cellar (!) and select some of their rare aged bottles to match our meal. We'll be able to look out over their vineyards as we taste - a real local experience.

SUNDAY: OLIVE OIL & ART
Tasting: Apollo or Sierra d'Oro Olive Oils
Home Gallery: Yohanna's Heart

We conclude our adventure with a visit to the beautiful hillside olive orchards. The owners will show us their trees, mill, and press followed by an explanation of olive oil tasting, with a flight of mild to spicy blends. We'll finish with a visit to the home of a local artist, Yohanna, and an organic lunch.

EXTRA CREDIT Wine Tour!

For those of you who aren't quite ready to break your bonds with the area, we recommend you stop by one of several other tasting rooms on your way out. If it's not Hickman Family Vineyard, try Rennaissance Vineyard and Winery. Of course, maybe you're just in need of a return to Clos Saron!

Itinerary disclaimer: This itinerary gives an outline of our activities on the tour, however, our itinerary may be subject to change due to weather conditions, availability of suppliers or other unforeseeable events. We are, however, driven to create the best experience possible for you and any changes made will be with the aim to improve your experience.

PRICING

This weekend is a ridiculous deal. Normally, doing all these events would either (a) not be possible because our hosts are real farmers/craftsmen and don't generally have time to entertain (even now, I still have to beg many of them just to show up to share the products they work so hard to produce!) or (b) would come out to be much more expensive.

Pricing depends on accommodation choice:

CAMPING ... $219 - Bring your own gear and please arrive at least 1 hour early (by 4:30pm) to set up your tent.

RUTSIC CABIN ... $249 - Stay on a bunk in a 4-person room in rustic cabins by lake. Bring your own sheets & blankets.

BED & BREAKFAST ROOM ... $295 - Stay in beautiful fully-furnished room in lovely homes.

PRICE INCLUDES

* Gourmet Meals, including
      - 2 breakfasts
      - 1 gourmet picnic lunch
      - 2 dinners (a wine-reception/light dinner $45 value; and a  4-course chef's wine-tasting dinner $85 value)
* Accommodation for 2 nights
* Activities, including wine-tasting, olive oil tour and tasting, hikes, and more.

If you can't do the listed price, you can try and find your own accommodations, but the closest hotel is about 60 miles away and you'd miss out on a breakfast of fresh croissants delivered to your door every morning and the sweetness of your rural hosts.

AWESOME! SIGN ME UP!

Reservations and $50 deposit are required. It is not enough to rsvp yes on meetup. Please sign up here: http://piccolinaadventures.com/reserve-your-california-adventure/. Accommodation is very difficult to organize in Yuba (aka basically nothing exists) and so we will NOT reserve a room for you if we don't have notice that you're coming! Thanks!!!!

    You can take olives home if you'd like to...but I can't say they're the most delicious things.. I think you need to let them sit in 7% salt brine for 8 months before they're any good! BUT the awesome thing is that you can actually go home with the olive oil you helped harvest!
