Intro to Back/Sidecountry and Sunday Mt Rose Tour with Alpine Skills Institute at Sugar Bowl's Backcountry Adventure Center.
Includes avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel; avalanche hazard recognition with classroom and in the field instruction; uphill touring techniques with climbing skins; Sugar Bowl lift ticket; AT skis/splitboard gear included on Saturday. ($20- less if you already have a SB pass). Additional $35- Sunday AT gear rental includes AT boot, skis and skins. Additional $30- Sunday splitboard, skins and 3 section collapsible poles.
No previous backcountry experience necessary. Come prepared to follow very important safety directions, be observant to potential risks and hazards and use common sense.
You should go if you: a) want to safely learn about and get into the backcountry with an accredited alpine outfit. b) are an advanced skier/rider comfortable off-piste. c) are in good cardiovascular shape.

If you must cancel your trip for any reason (including medical) you must fully understand ASI's refund policy. ASI requires written notice by Jan 8, 2011. A refund is available minus a cancellation fee of $50-. After Jan 8th, 2011, no refunds will be available unless your space is taken by another person.
The possible costs of evacuation by helicopter or other conveyance, as well as hospitalization or any other medical costs are not included in the course fee. Please read the BAEOC Liability Waiver found in the File section

. You will need to sign the waiver prior to beginning the course. Optional lodging
for Jan 28 and 29th will be available at a local ski club cabin at an additional $15/night. You will be a guest of a member and the inexpensive stay requires good manners and an easy clean up chore. Carpooling suggested.
