Free Fracking Film: Split Estate

Emmy Award winning documentary shows the dirty side of hydraulic fracturing and natural gas, an energy source the industry touts as a clean alternative to fossil fuels. This is a must see film!!! I will be in class, but you should RSVP yes and go!!!

Imagine discovering that you don’t own the mineral rights under your land, and that an energy company plans to drill for natural gas two hundred feet from your front door. Imagine having little recourse, other than accepting an unregulated industry in your backyard. SPLIT ESTATE maps a tragedy in the making, as citizens in the path of a new drilling boom in the Rocky Mountain West struggle against the erosion of their civil liberties, their communities and their health.

A discussion on fracking in California will follow the screening. Find out the latest up-to-the minute information on what is happening in this State and how you can get involved.

The Koret Auditorium is fairly large, so I wouldn't worry too much about seats running out. And it would be worth to attend just for the panel discussion. But if they run out of seats, you have a library full of books as plan b...they have a copy of the film Gasland (another fracking film) at the library http://sflib1.sfpl.or... I hope you are able to make it!

It is really great to see so many people interested in the fracking film. In case are not aware, the Forward on Climate rally is this Sunday, 17 Feb 1:00-3:00 at 1 Market St (near the Embarcadero BART Station), SF. All the details are posted at Many (if not all) of the organizations that will be at the rally on Sunday also have fracking campaigns. If you only attend one rally this year, this is the rally to attend!!!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
