Short Notice: [TONIGHT, 2/17] Double Feature at the Castro

From: Lee
Sent on: Friday, February 17, 2012 2:23 PM

This is short notice, and is not an 'official' BAFS event, but a member is going to see the double feature playing at the Castro tonight, and was wondering if anyone else would be interested in joining him.

The movies:

World-class funk is on full display in Mark Landsman's spirited documentary. The alumni from Houston’s Kashmere High School Stage Band return home after 35 years to play a tribute concert for the 92-year-old “Prof,” their beloved bandleader who broke the color barrier and transformed the school’s struggling jazz band into an internationally recognized funk phenomenon in the early 1970s. 2010 | 84 min | 35mm

This outrageously over-the-top parody of ’70s-era blaxploitation films follows the exploits of an ex-CIA agent/full-time ladies man out to avenge the death of his brother against kung-fu masters, drug-dealing pimps and The Man. Stars the mighty Michael Jai White; directed by Scott Sanders. 2009 | 84 min | 35mm

The theater:

Castro Theater
429 Castro Street (at Market), SF

The BAFS member:
Jonas-Sébastien Beaudry

Please contact Jonas directly to plan details like the times and meeting locations. I have met him, and he is a great guy.
