Hello Fellow Bay Area Film Society Members,

I wanted to invite you to join me at a free screening of "The New Black" next Wed May 7 at 6pm at the San Francisco Public Library. There will also be a post-screening discussion held afterwards. Details are provided below, and the link to RSVP is at:

In case you can't make it, another free screening of the film is planned on June 4 (for Pride month) at the African American Art & Culture Complex. I'll email about that closer to the date.

I hope to meet some of you there!

Centering on the historic fight to win marriage equality in Maryland, The New Black takes viewers into the pews, onto the streets, and provides a seat at the kitchen table as it looks at how the African American community grapples with the divisive gay rights issue. Read more hereand watch the film teaser here.

Featuring a post-screening discussion including Monica Anderson, Founder of Spectrum Queer Media. This screening is an official partner of Spectrum Queer Media's The New Black Freedom Summer Tour, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Freedom Summer. Click here to learn more.
