Free screening of "The New Black" and Q&A next Wed June 4

Hello Fellow Bay Area Film Society Members,

I wanted to get in touch about an encore free screening of the documentary "The New Black" next Wed June 4 at 6pm at the African American Art & Culture Complex. RVSP at:

The film examines LGBT rights issues within African American communities, specifically when Question 6 (same-sex marriage) was on the ballot in Maryland. Free snacks and an engaging post-screening community conversation will follow, see below for the full invite information. Please feel free to invite your friends! I'm one of the event organizers, so if you are able to make it I'd love for you to say hi and introduce yourself to me.

Centering on the historic fight to win marriage equality in Maryland, The New Black takes viewers into the pews, onto the streets, and provides a seat at the kitchen table as it looks at how the African American community grapples with the divisive gay rights issue. Click here to read more and watch a preview. 
Community Cinema is hosting free sneak preview screenings of The New Black in nearly 100 locations across the US in May and June, leading up to the film’s broadcast on Independent Lens on PBS on Sunday, June 15 at 10:30/9:30c.(Check local listings)
