Salmon fishing Combo Trip at Bodega Bay

Salmon season is upon us! July means the Salmon will be hot and heavy in Bodega Bay. It's time to fill your freezer with a ton of Salmon (and other fish). Limits of Salmon (2) are almost garanteed and usually achieved early in the morning. So this will be a combo trip where after we get our limits of Salmon, we will go after Rockfish (Rockcod, Lingcod, bass, etc..) We will "troll" (drive the boat slowly with lures/bait behind the boat) for salmon in the morning and then "jig" (drop lures to the bottom and keep picking them up off the bottom) to catch the rockfish later on. We will end the trip at 2pm or when we reach limits of all types of fish, whatever comes FIRST.

We will be fishing on a Jet Boat that holds 5 people (see my sturgeon fishing video for example or go to the website), so it's much different than a party boat, wich allows us a more personal experince and the opportunity to catch big salmon,  then we can go after rockfish. However, it is not as comfortable as a party boat. There is no bathroom on board, just a container to pee in. There is also no hot food or heated cabin. If you are not comfortable with that, then I suggest you go on the potluck fishing trip on the 27th (no salmon though). So, bring your own food and be prepared to pee in a container.

If you get sea sick be sure to take Dramamine the night before and then the following morning. Meet at 5:45am at Bodega Bay Sport fishing Center, or comment below and we can arrange carpool. I will bring an Ice Chest we can put our food and drinks in (beer and wine okay) while on the boat, but you will want an ice chest to put your fish in for the drive home. I will bring vaccum seal bags that we can use to seal up our fish right after he filets them. These vaccum bags are much better than what all guides provide, which is the standard ziplock. This will ensure the fish keeps 100% freshness for you to just throw in the freezer or eat later that night.

All you need to do is show up with your fishing licencse. All rods and tackle will be provided. Just bring food and drinks.

Both of the Ocean trips we have planned should be awsome, both will be different experiences with different fish species.  I am very excited for both of these trips. We will all have a blast and get some good video & pictures. Anyone is welcome to come, they do not need to be a member, but of course have to pay for the spot. Hope to see you guys soon.

Fish on!

I am going to be bringing a large ice chest for our drinks and food. The guide doesn't want more than 1 ice chest on the boat for taking up too much room. We can all stick our drinks in the chest. You can bring beer if you want, last time we had one with the guide at the end of the day when we got off the water.

Yes, get a one day fishing license for Saturday. He doesn't check licenses but the coast guard will if we get boarded.

How far out does the boat go? I'm interested, but I have been known to get a wee bit sea sick. Usually not too big of a problem if we don't go waaaay out. Did similar fishing while living in Alaska years ago.

We are not going out very far at all, but if you get seasick, just take dramamine the night before and in the morning. Bring along some ginger ale or anything with ginger in it and you should be fine.

I have never done this type of fishing either, so you are not alone. That is what is nice about using a guide as they do a lot of the work for you and "guide" you through the process. Hope you can make it.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
