My name is Cat, and I work for American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. This season opens with the long beloved Tony Award–winning musical, 1776. Given your love of theater, I thought it would make a great meet-up! It runs from September 11 to October 6th, so there are lots of meet-up date options.

A.C.T. presents the West Coast premiere of acclaimed director Frank Galati's triumphant new staging of 1776. More than 230 years ago, our founding fathers held heated debates, and negotiated compromises while drafting the Declaration of Independence.

In this exhilarating work, the political skirmishes that played out centuries ago have surprising contemporary resonance. Hailed by critics as "brilliant," "thrilling," and "utterly riveting"—and filled with glorious music and unforgettable characters—1776 takes us on a vivid, rousing, and suspenseful adventure into the fascinating first chapter of American history.

For more information, tickets, and to see photos, visit act-sf.org/1776, and note that groups of 15 or more receive discounted rates!

I apologize for not meeting more of you... it appears that my description line about "Meeting outside the theatre to the right of the entrance before the show" may not have been posted. I waited there wearing a Meetup badge till about 7:55pm and tried to make myself visible at the reception after the show. Thank you Wes for introducing yourself and introducing me to Randy, Thad and your other friends. You really enriched my experience by sharing photos and talking about productions and people we've seen. I had a great time!

This is a beautifully mounted, performed and thoughtful production of an American classic. Politics IS messy, personal, and like in the time of our Founding Fathers, dependent on compromise and collaboration. I wish EVERY member of Congress could see this production. Food for thought... Beautiful, inspiring and yet perhaps a bit flawed in its structure and writing... this is not the BEST musical ever written, but it is an important one commissioned for the Bicentennial in 1976 and a great reminder of why and how The United States of America was formed. If you consider yourself a patriot, don't miss it!.

    Hi, guys!

So there appears to be some interest in this. Is anyone picking a date and arranging for tickets? Not sure how this works and what it means to indicate that we're "attending."

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
