We'll have another South Bay hike in August. This is the same place we hiked last October, only this time we'll be taking different trails.
Let's meet at the trailhead gates.
Here's the google map (DON"T USE THE MEETUP MAP):
Zoom into the map all the way to the street level photo and you can see the trailhead is marked by signs and various gates. This is just 100 yards or so north of the parking lot, where you can park for free.
This time we'll take the El Corte de Madera Creek trail to the North Leaf Trail to the Methuselah Trail to the Fir Trail back to the trailhead. And we'll likely take our break somewhere along the Methuselah Trail. The hike is mostly forested, mostly downhill the first half and up the 2nd, though there are so many ridges that it's up and down throughout the middle as well. Maybe a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10 and roughly 4 miles round trip.
We'll likely take the full time allotted, but we may get back by 3:30 or 4, depending on the hike goes. If it is imperative that you be back at your car before 4:30, please plan to depart from the group early or consider another hike. Look forward to seeing you guys there!
**PLEASE NOTE*** We/I have no idea if cells will work here, so please take the time to get directions (both what I wrote above and using "get directions" from google) and milage markers BEFORE you leave so that you can meet us at the designated place and time. Using google maps or GPS while on route results in some wonky, incorrect directions due to the sketchy reception for such devices in these remote areas. So again, it is best to get directions BEFORE you leave, at a place that has good internet access (such as a computer). We'll wait 10 to 15 minutes for everyone and then will begin the hike. Let me know if you have any questions.
