Meet & Greet at Double D's Sports Grille in Los Gatos

According to Jeff Dwyer, author of Ghost Hunter’s Guide to the San Francisco Bay Area, Double D’s Sports Grille and a few other nearby buildings, were built on the grounds of a cemetery that had been relocated. As is typical when cemeteries are moved, there are surviving relatives who either refused or could not be found to move the remains of their loved ones. That rarely stops any city’s determination to grow and many frequently build over those bodies left behind. Some of the departed can still complain, though.

Dwyer documents the shades of a dark-haired woman and a little boy, Willie, who died of pneumonia at the age of 2, have been seen wandering around some of the shops and restaurants of this little section of Village Lane in Los Gatos, particularly Sushi Yokohama, Perfect Nails, and the men’s room of Double D’s. When a child that young dies, it is rare to see them stick to the earthly plane, unless someone else is holding them back. However, one of the staffers at Double D’s confirms there are reports of activity in the men’s room. He said visitors have complained about cold spots, sudden drafts, and the feeling of being watched, although he never experienced any activity himself.

We haven’t visited this part of the Bay Area, so why not explore? It may not look like a place that is haunted, but it goes to show how looks can be deceiving. It will probably be a much quieter after the Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day, so we hope as many as possible will join us on February 20. Perhaps we can do a little walkabout after lunch. Lunch and refreshments are Dutch treat.

Today's Meetup in Los Gatos was a lot of fun! I enjoyed sharing some of the stories I've collected about haunted places in downtown Los Gatos with the 20 or so people who got together at Double Ds. We did walk around after lunch and chatted about some of the places I'd identified. This is a fantastic group of people and it was really fun that we had a psychic or two in the group too. Hope to see you all again soon and Lucy I hope you are better soon!

The food was good and the company was excellent. The ghost walk of downtown Los Gatos given by Mary Pope-Handy was fabulous, too. What a pleasant surprise that was. We learned a lot about this pretty little city, in addition to the actual parimeters of Los Gatos's former cemetery.

Mary-Pope Handy (of www.hauntedrealestate.com) unexpectedly gave us a wonderful walking tour of old and older Los Gatos. People on the tour heard stories and saw places we'd never seen. Many nice and interesting people showed up. It was a great meetup, and probably worth repeating some time for those of you who could not make it. Did you know N. Santa Cruz Avenue was called Cemetery Avenue?! It was amazing to learn how much of this tony and sedate shopping and eating area was a cemetery! Thanks, Adrienne, for organizing it!

We had a nice time meeting new people and talking older member. Thank you Adrienne for setting up this meetup and to Mary Pope for the walking tour. As you know, we did not continue back across the bride with everyone. We went into the Forbes Mill Museum and chatted with the docent for awhile. Well it looks like we just might be doing an investigation of the mill. Also, we given a business card of a client who is looking to have there home investigated. Looks like we were there at the right time.
