Investigation at Alameda Naval Air Museum

Paranormal Investigation for members only (no guests allowed and no one under the age of 18)

This location has never been investigated before by anyone. We are the first.

Cost - $55.00 per person (payable at time of RSVP)

We will have 6 hours to investigate 3 floors. We will be separated into 3 groups of 5-6 depending on how many people sign up.  Please do not wear any perfume, cologne or scented lotions - as it makes it hard to determine phantom smells. Please feel free to bring any equipment except for Ouija boards and headlamp style flashlights. You can bring food and drinks (non alcoholic) that can be left in the cafeteria area, which will be our setup area and also where we take our break.

History and Area of Investigation:

The building was commissioned on November 1, 1940 and completed in January 1941 and spans 18,000 square feet, covering 3 floors. The building served as many things, including an Air Terminal for personnel that were transferring from base to base.

The base was also once part of an Indian burial ground and later part of a Spanish land grant of Don Luis Maria Peralta. The original site was 300 acres and when the station closed in 1997 the total area was 2,527 acres or one-third of the island of Alameda.

We will have access to all 3 floors, including exhibits of World War I and World War II artifacts, uniforms, helmets and many other items. Also a library, makeshift medical area, walk-in vault and a multitude of memorabilia including a Pan Am exhibit.

Paranormal Claims:

I wasn't going to list anything here because the location has never been investigated before, but after a 3 1/2 hour walkthrough I can definitely say that the location is active. I recorded the entire tour and in the first 16 minutes I probably got 10-15 EVP's, the first one in under 2 minutes. I am just guessing that the spirits were excited that someone was coming there to try to communicate with them and hear their history. I think this is going to be a really good experience and I am looking forward to sharing it with you.

Listening to more evp's from the Alameda Naval Air Museum and there's this little gem. A couple of things on the recording. Somebody being a bit colorful in their language, then at the very end, someone says, "Mommy". I either have the clearest evp EVER, or someone in the group said "Mommy". Can anyone in my group that night de-bunk "Mommy"?

That was a really clear EVP, Ann! Heard "smoke them now" in that whispery spirit voice but so clear.

Another great investigation. Our group (#3) had quite a few EVP's and flashlight play. I think the spirits enjoyed the 40's music Renee played and we got some amazing confirmations to our questions via the flashlight. For the first time, I actually felt something touch my arm and it felt like an electric/charged feeling! Thanks, Laura, for organizing this fun investigation and for all the other group members that make it so enjoyable.

    3 · July 28

    • Keena

Yes, it was a neat experience. I was in the 3rd floor library and had just sat down. I was near a bookshelf and all of a sudden I felt this ticklish feeling going down the back of my arm. I thought it might be a spider or something so I tried to brush it away with my other hand. No spider there and it was a different feeling because it felt "charged." At the time, Renee kept getting feelings of being touched too. I held out my arm to see if it would happen again but it didn't. It happened as we were settling in to an area and hadn't really started our EVP session yet. First time being touched by a spirit for me!

Thanks for thinking of John. He's going to the Spaghetti Factory event tomorrow but can't walk quite well enough to go on investigations yet. He's on the mend, so thanks again for your well wishes. We'll miss you tomorrow!

I have to ask-does anyone else have non-stop evps like someone was right up next to their recorder the whole time? A lot of my recordings have that breathy lip smacking sound and there are some that sound like someone (or something) was following me around for the whole investigation.

I am just starting to review my recording of the 3rd floor, which had a lot of activity for Laura J's group. I call this post, "Party in the Uniform Room," and the EVP I believe explains the title.

The 3rd floor was probably the most active for us as well. A ton of EVP's on that floor...I still haven't gotten through all of them. Just a super great investigation.

    More debunking needed.

    http://www.ghostworld.org/2014/08/01/alameda-naval-air-museum-72614-one-from-the-chapel/

I should also note that the voice sounds like it's right up on my DVR which was on the organ. The organ was on, so you'll hear a bit of a buzz from that.

    1 · July 31

    • Laura J

No ir wasn't the chapel...just like I don't believe it was really the naval "sickbay". Those names are there for the museum displays. For normal museum tours you can only look in the sick bay, not walk in there. That's why there is the half door there. Also the "chapel" isn't opened to the public now because they are using that room for just storage. The items in the museum are original but not the rooms....except the walk in vault. I will double check all of my info tomorrow. I know the building was used for military personnel while they were waiting to be transferred from base to base.

      July 31

    • Chris

Ok that makes sense bcuz I thought those rooms were kind of small for a chapel & sick bay.

      1 · August 1

  • Ann U.

Here's the best example I have (so far) of a clear, loud EVP. Give a listen.

    http://www.ghostworld.org/2014/08/01/alameda-naval-air-museum-72614-while-on-break/

    July 31

    • Laura J

I hear "help me"...but remember this wasn't really a chapel. Not that I don't wish we hadn't heard him at the time, but I don't think he was stuck in that storage room. He may have been following us or just looking for us to get a message to someone. I'll ask when I go back there.

Thanks, Laura, another fun and fascinating investigation. Thanks, too, for the awesome snacks and drinks!

I thought I'd share one thing that happened last night. My group was set up in the part of the library with the nice chairs and the fancy book cabinet (back end of the library). I was sitting on the floor. For some reason, my attention was really held by something(s) going on in the other part of the library, by the door leading into the library.

The entire time we were in this area, I kept seeing what looked like a shadowy mass move back and forth along the far wall by the doorway. John, who was in my group, kept hearing noises in that direction, including the sound of footsteps.

When we were heading out of the library, I told John about the shadow I'd seen and he said he'd been seeing something similar. I said it looked like a shadow and he said it looked like a "black mass." It had no human form. Sounds like we might've seen the same thing.

    5 · July 27

    • Mariah

Thank you for this post. Experiences, rather than possible residual EVP's, our own PK, etc., can be more important (can be more credible) and/or validating if a corresponding conscious EVP is captured when you saw this AND/OR others in the group or other groups sensed/saw the same "black mass". AT LEAST 3 people sensed "it" and may have even captured it on video in our group.

      4 · July 31

    • Ann U.

Based on all the potential EVPs I've found so far on my recording, I have to say that we encountered no residual spirit energy. (Or at least no residual spirit energy that was recorded on my DVR.) I'm half way through listening to my recording of this night and many of the potential EVPs I have indicate a high level of interest and interaction with us.

Wow, so listening to the first 14 minutes in the wardrobe room on the third floor, I 've heard a ton of evp's. It has taken me 2 hours to get through just the first 14 minutes! Hoping to post some of them by the weekend.

    5 · July 29

  • Michele

We have made comments that it seems the Spirits disappear when we enter the room but I am starting to wonder if we just get use to their energy and don't realize they haven't gone anywhere. It seems we do get EVPs when we think they have left the room. I really did not think we got much but after listening to only a couple of files, we got a lot more than I expected. I hope to post them by weeks end.

This was a really interesting one. I could feel that we were not alone in the building, especially in certain rooms/areas. We got a few loud evps, and some flashlight action when I asked the spirits if they liked to visit the ladies locker room at the gym next door! Seemed to be a lot of noises in the "Chief's" office like someone was upset we were in there. Overall very fun and I'm glad we checked it out! Thank you to everyone in the group and Laura for another great night! :)

Thank you to another great group of investigators. I am hoping people were satisfied with their groups as I tried to switch it up a bit to give people the opportunity to investigate with some different members. I was really excited about this location since it had never been investigated before (and my walked through had tons of evps) and it did not disappoint. My group had constant activty. We got great responses in the "bar" room with the alcohol, cigars, music and poker playing. Throughout the night we got some great evp's. "Go get the book" in the sick bay, after 2 people complained of headaches, I found a book behind me with medical advice. The flashlight went on when I touched that book. Hmmmm....The uniform room was the best though..."Sieg Heil". I agree with Mike, the videos would probably go viral so we will make sure not to post them...lol. Overall fantastic night, thanks everyone for your passion, interest and support. Looking for to the seeing you all soon. On to the next..

It was great to investigate a place that hadn't been investigated before. Definitely lots of activity, especially in the uniform room. Spirit energy was very active. Good place to use trigger objects (deck of cards, poker chips, cigars, little bottles of alcohol, music).

Great investigation. Our group was great...we had quite a bit of activity on the third floor; evp's, touchy feely in the "morgue" and flashlight action. Where do I begin? Lots of Evp's, interesting comments from the spirit box, good use of trigger objects, and great responses with the flashlight. However, the third floor antics take the cake. The sweatshop costume party made me laugh as if I was hanging out with Snoopdog or Cheech and Chong. Pam's video or Debbie's pictures would likely get over a million hits if posted on you tube. Other highlights included Pam taking a video selfie with a mannequin with no arms, a wig, and broken neck; Laura's unique flashlight holder, organ jam session in the chappel,
