I mainly use a Canon t2i, but I've also used various analog formats in the past, toy cameras...also, in working with celluloid I'd mostly use my super8 camera...a Canon 814xls. Or for 16mm, a Bolex.
I've been mostly inspired to shoot sort of video based still lifes of decaying urban and rural environments in the bay area and elsewhere. Hoping to move on to something else soon, the previous is getting to be old hat.
A lot of videos can be found on my youtube page; http://www.youtube.com/user/vurt834
Don't have one really...I just use the kit zoom lens that was sold with the t2i (18-55m zoom). However, I do like using both zoom and prime lenses. Prime lenses especially, since I think they force you to be more physically engaged with your subjective environment.
I'd say, as of now, probably Andrei Tarkovsky, though Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch were for my younger self. Experimental and industrial music has heavily influenced me as an artist as well, cEvin Key's project Doubting Thomas lies at the core of my film philosophy.
I am an MFA in film grad currently living in the South SF Bay. I'm mostly into making experimental videos as a serious artisitc discipline, and do photo as a hobby. I've just gotten into using a DSLR, as opposed to a super8 camera.
