Cindy and Eric Canup as SYLA Presents are honored to welcome
San Francisco Music Club Acoustic
Featuring: Lorin Rowan, Jimmy Dillon, & Sakai
Saturday, April 14. Gather at 7:00 PM, Music at 8:00 PM
Oakland, CA [masked]
Paul Liberatore from the Marin Independent Journal says Dillon and Rowan are consummate singers and guitarists with a long and impressive history in Marin, but they chose to identify with San Francisco in their band name to give their ensemble a broad appeal. On this special acoustic evening, the soulful vocals of Dillons baritone growl and Rowans clear tenor, along with exquisite harmony from special female guest singer Sakai
gives world music an accessible, fresh and fun new sound.
What youll hear: an exciting and colorful cross pollination of styles and genres; a world music experience that draws from Afro-Cuban/Hi-Life, funky New Orleans grooves, R&B, and classic Jamaican roots music reminiscent of Bob Marley & the Wailers or Toots and the Maytals. Think Paul Simons Graceland with an extra helping of Red Beans and Rice, a side of Gumbo, and a Red Stripe.
Wherere youll travel: Jamaica, Cuba, Istanbul, New Orleans, Marin, and beyond
Who have they worked with: Train, Stevie Wonder, Santana, Clarence Clemons, Bruce Springsteen, John Lee Hooker, BB King, Sting, The Rowan Brothers (Peter & Chris), Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Steve Miller, Levon Helm, Little Feat, David Grisman, Stephane Grapelli
