Happy Hour for International Development with Solar Power!

Please join us for a happy hour and mingle with other renewable energy advocates and international development professionals. Learn more about Power to the People by talking to our volunteers or just kick back with a tall cold one and get to know some new people in the Bay Area.

http://www.powertothepeople.org/

Power to the People works with rural communities in the developing world to install solar electric (photovoltaic) systems on community buildings like schools, health clinics and libraries. Volunteer travelers, or 'voluntourists', help to install the systems and learn about off-grid solar while they explore the country and meet other spirited travelers.

For the individual households there is also a 'Solar Lighting Program', where small solar lights are distributed by women in the communities we work in by signing up to become solar salespeople. They buy the lights at cost and sell them in their communities for a small markup, creating an additional income source for their family and providing an affordable and clean lighting source for their neighbors and friends.

Come learn about Power to the People while making new friends and supporting a great cause!

Fun and worthwhile. As I expected, I picked up several good ideas and contacts from people working on projects at least somewhat related to mine.
