Bay Area Julia Users meetup #2

Our next meetup will feature a talk by John Myles White, a Julia language developer, on "DataFrames and Optim/JuMP". Also joining us will be Jonathan Chang who will speak on "Profiling and the TopicsModels package."

This event will be recorded and available as an on-demand webcast a few days afterwards.

We continue to search for members of the community willing to present their Julia projects at future meetups. If you've got something working, let us know!

Yes, I can present on the 3rd. It would be nice to also hear from Jonathan, who I can talk to in person.

Anyone interested in having a discussion about profiling/optimization? I learned a bunch of the things the hard way while I was working on my Gibbs sampler...

This sounds like a great topic to me

I would love to discuss that - I'm looking at Julia in part because some standard clustering algorithms (a big part of my PhD research) break down in R with large genomic datasets because the optimization is so slow.

That would be great! What kind of timeline are you thinking at this point?
