Rationality Training

This location is shown only to members

People have talked about building a "Rationality Dojo". I consider that to be a very valid goal but I acknowledge that it will be very hard to do so. The purpose of this meetup is to gain knowledge about how to train rationality. I'll have some questions, games and prizes. I'll also have some overarching structure for how to ask the questions, play the games and award the prizes. Email me if you are interested in helping me come up with (or already have) questions, games or prizes.

Would love to make it if it is close to Palo Alto.

Just getting together was lots of fun. I was there for "paranoid debating", which was interesting to try, but didn't seem like a good idea for "rationality training".

I'd have been pleased to have had some explicit intentions for the meeting. Not that I'd have actually done it any better, but I think it would have been nice to have had an agenda and perhaps some discussion of what additional needs people could foresee that participants could have helped arrange. Of course the unplanned, spur of the moment conversations were much more interesting than the planned games which we operated rather poorly. It reminded me of pot luck dinners with Russel Brand in Redwood City. It'd be nice if we had a wiki for arrangements and agenda planning, but even while they charge for their meeting service, Meetup fails to provide a wiki despite how cheap and useful they are.

Fantastic people, great venue, and fun, but instructive, games.
