The Bay Area Literary Lounge is a group that meets to explore and discuss literary interests with friends and drinks. Interests are a range from stories, to plays, to poetry, to film, or any other thing that sets your intellect on fire.
+ The set up: Our group meets once every month to discuss a title we’ve voted on. Topics can be a range of interests and genres, from short stories to whole novels, and we vote on them in advance so that everyone has the chance to find them and read them before the meetup date. We meet in a location in the East Bay, usually in a café or a low-key spot to meet, support our patron by buying a drink or two (hey, no one's counting here!) and discuss the topic at hand. Venue allowing, we’ll try to get a bottle of wine or two to open up discussion, but you are welcome to donate to the group collective.
+ The location: Our group usually meets in a local café or bar, in the East Bay. We are on the quest for the perfect spot, so meeting places may change from time to time, but will usually be in an out-and-about location that allows for good drinks and conversation.
+ The when: Our meetups happen with relative regularity on Sunday evenings, and meet every month. Relative regularity comes in to play when timing around holidays, but generally there should be a meeting of some sort.
+ The group: We're all ages and interests, so if you're excited by anything literary we want to know you! Our meetups are usually about 12 people to keep discussion engaging and inclusive.
*A (requisite) note on RSVP-ing: If you can’t make it, please try to let that be known at least by the morning of the event. I know things come up, maybe you got invited to do something else, cool. But try to give as much notice as you can, so someone who wanted to come instead can have enough time to read up on the topic and come to the event.
That being said, I’m looking forward to meeting up with you at our next meetup!
