Do you have backcountry riding experience now?

Yes. Many seasons now where I've done only touring, close to 8 yrs now. i'm a child of winter; skiing by 5, switched to riding at 12. I've ridden all kinds of terrain over the years. I am not reckless/ambitious even in the slightest and very aware of what I can safely handle. I'm in it mainly for the scenery, exercise, solitude (relative), and camaraderie. I have avy 1 training too but my avalanche experience is limited to inter-mountain west snowpack conditions (CO, UT), really hard to imagine this cement here ever moves!

Do you use a split board, snow shoes, or skis to access the backcountry?

alpine ascent snowshoes, collapsible poles, and my board straps to my pack. Tried a split board several times.. honestly, it was a pain In the butt.

Do you have avalanche training?

yes, avi 1.

Do you own a beacon/shovel/probe?

yes, yes, yes.

Where do you (or would you) like to ride?

Anywhere within driving distance of SF! Still salivate for the Wasatch and front range..

Hello snow lovers, I am newish to SF but not to the backcountry. moved here about 3 years ago from northern CO. I have yet to meet a buddy who hikes for their runs- I have all the gear, avy 1 training, been doing some mountaineering in the meantime.
