Indoor Rock Climbing - Beginners Welcome

Hello Climbers!

It's our regular indoor climbing event!  If you've ever wanted to try rock climbing, this is an ideal chance to try it in a safe environment with experienced climbers.  Whether you can barely climb a ladder or you're flashing 5.13's there's something for everyone and we're very supportive of climbers at all levels - no one starts out climbing 5.11s.  You  are welcome to bring friends, as many as 5 in a group (yourself + friends total).

If you are new to climbing, please do arrive at 7 so you can get a quick lesson on tying in correctly, etc.  If you're not a member of Mission Cliffs, it's $20 for a day pass (or $100 for a 1 month pass) plus $5 for shoe/harness rentals.  After meeting inside we'll show folks how to tie in and belay before we begin our climbing.  If your not a regular member you'll have to get a temporary belay card (it's not hard, takes about 45 minutes total).  I will be there to show you the ropes (ok, really bad pun, even by my standards).

I've found that Friday night the gym is not very crowded and has a bit more of a relaxed atmosphere.  Don't worry if you're new to climbing, all climbers were at some point and my experience has been that climbers will go out of their way to give you tips, be helpful, etc.  Several of us will be there to give you basic tips in terms of proper holds, footwork, and other basic techniques.

We've quickly become one of the largest groups of climbers at Mission Cliffs, and as such we have an agreement that I let them know Thursday afternoon approximately how many people will attend.  They make staffing decisions based on how many climbers we bring, and they often have an additional person working to help accommodate our group.  For that reason it's essential that you keep your rsvp status up to date.  Mission Cliffs has been unbelievable cool to us, let's respect that relationship by giving them an accurate rsvp count.  It's fine if you sign up the day of the event, but no-shows are not cool at this event (and in general) and will be recorded as such.

Hit me up with any questions, otherwise I'll see you Friday night!  Do not send me funds, you'll pay for your own day pass Friday night in person.

Meeting Location:  Just upstairs from the check  in desk.

Decided to come last minute - I hope that’s fine. We are three, but only two will climb and one will be hanging around.

Cool! I've done a little climbing and bouldering and have been hoping there would be a Meetup for climbers who don't have much experience. Thanks for posting this
