APPLE STORE PRESENTATION: Burning Man Photography by George Post

(Scroll down for presentation details)

Date: Wednesday, November 20,2013

Time: Presentation from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a question and answer period from 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

Location: Apple Store - San Francisco, 1 Stockton Street at the corner of Market. We will be on the Second Floor of the store.

Cost: This is a FREE Event.

About George Post:  George is a photographer, writer, and teacher based in Richmond, California. He is a Life Member of ASMP, the American Society of Media Photographers, for 12 years he wrote a monthly column for Darkroom Photography Magazine and has taught photo classes and workshops at camera stores and adult schools in the San Francisco Bay Area. His primary career specialty has been the photographic documentation of fine arts and hand-made crafts for clients on the craft-fair circuit, and he has also used photography as the preferred medium for his own creative expression. He seeks out colorful, offbeat subject matter and has attended Burning Man every year since 1991. In 2012 he self-published a coffee-table picture book, "Dancing with the Playa Messiah," which includes nearly 1000 of his best Burning Man photos from[masked] and is currently planning an expanded Second Edition with two additional years [masked]).

Please note: If you are planning to attend this presentation, we ask you to enter a Yes RSVP.  If you enter a Yes RSVP and than find that you cannot attend, please take the time to change your RSVP to No.

Parking: There are Tow Away Zones on many of the streets around the Apple store. Some of them end at 6:00 pm so there is usually a lot of parking places available at that time. Other streets have tow away zones that end at 7:00 pm so be careful.

Parking Meters: There have been changes in the times for parking meters so you need to read the signs and also check the screens on the meter to determine the hours of operation for that particular meter.  Some of the meters do not require payments after 6 pm but others do.

The Apple store is also very convenient to public transportation - the Powell Street BART station is close to the Apple store.

Enjoyed the slideshow presentation plus leadoff image of what the burn would've looked like on Baker Beach as seen from the Marin Headlands.

As if by magic, the weather cleared for the presentation and we had a great crowd. George did an excellent presentation with a lot of detailed information about Burning Man and the images he showed.

Oops - got the book title wrong in previous post. Should be Dancing with the Playa Messiah.

Presentation was excellent. The background noise of the venue could be a little distracting at times. George Post's photography and writing gives a wonderful sense of the culture and history of the Burning Man event. Dancing with the Messiah would be a wonderful book to add to ones photo library.
