Sandy quilt benefit - log cabin block party

Hey! I know we're mostly garment sewers, but would anybody be up for stitching up some log cabin blocks for a Sandy quilt block drive?

http://quiltinggallery.com/quilters-fun/sandy-quilt-block-drive/

I thought about 5-6 of us could meet up at my parent's place (they've got a decent amount of room) for a couple hours to stitch up the blocks and then whatever else you're working on. I've got a bunch of random 2" strips, or it could be a good way to use up your leftovers from other projects :-).

Great. Friendly people; enough space and light. I learned a few things about quilting which I can use in the future. Fun to sew/quilt with others. I'd do it again.

Do I need to bring anything besides my sewing machine and pins, thread and scissors? Do you need cloth scraps? I have only a few of those. Anything else needed? How about a serger? Would that make things go faster?

Hit the wrong button.... I won't bring the serger because I wouldn't know how to use it for quilting and I've not quilted before. See you tomorrow.

Natalie, if you can get to the San Mateo Cal Train station, between 21:45 - 1:15 pm, I can pick you up. I'm coming from Half Moon Bay and will be doing an errand in San Mateo before I go to Jessica's. ~~Carla

I'm in the middle of moving and had hoped my things would be here by now - but for now I'll have to help sew your scraps :)

Hello! I've just moved here and don't have a sewing machine yet - can I still be useful?

Welcome to the area! Funny, I actually have an extra machine at my parent's place, the tension is a bit funky, I apologize, but you're welcome to use it :-).

    Lovely idea. Location?

My calendar is "challenging" through the end of the year; so not sure whether I'll be able to participate in this one. But I imagine there will be an ongoing need for this type of thoughtful project for quite a while, so would be great if this could be a repeated event.

Right, definitely understand that the end of the year gets crammed with social events, let's see how this goes and maybe we can do it again in 2013.
