Summerland Tour 2014 Concert - Downtown St. Petersburg

Come to the first ever Summerland Tour in St. Petersburg at the beautiful water front Vinoy Park.  General tickets are FREE!  They do have VIP tickets for an added cost. You must go to their website though to purchase and get your ticket, even if it's a free ticket.  You must have a ticket to get into the event, even if it's a free ticket.

They will have 4 bands through-out the day.  They are Everclear, Soul Asylum, Eve 6, and Space Hog. Go to the Summerland website to listen to samples of their music and to get your ticket.

Website:  http://www.summerlandtour.net/

Parking:

There is not much parking close to the park.  Just a small parking lot next to the park.  There is street parking that is all around downtown St. Petersburg but you will have to walk 4 or 5 blocks to get to the park.

Paid parking is available at:

Mid Core Garage, 117 2nd St N
South Core Garage, 101 1st Ave S
Pelican Parking Lot, 2nd Ave NE

Free Event Shuttles will run from 1st St. & Central Ave. and from Pier’s Dolphin Lot to Vinoy Park. Click on the following link to view a map of the shuttle service: Map of Shuttle Service. Or go to the Shuttle Service Event page for specific inform.

Where We Will Meet:  Corner of 5th Ave. NE & Bayshore Dr. NE. I will be there by 1:45pm and will wait until 2:15pm. If you come later you will have to text me to find where I am at. (Cell#[masked]).

**Please note there are 2 corners of 5th Ave NE & BayShore Dr. NE. One is directly in front of the Vinoy hotel and NOT the spot we will meet. We will meet at the one right next to the park and I will be standing in front of the Vinoy Park Sign below.

Note:  You must still get a FREE ticket off their website so you can get in.  Don't just show up as they won't let you in without a ticket.  They expect the event to sell out, so that's why you must have a ticket.

The company that produced this concert did not have their sh** together! The fire marshal was obviously keeping us out so we didn't all get electrocuted. The fact that I didn't get to see the band that I wanted to see was a real bummer. What made it even worse were the vendors who were selling food and beverage at highway robbery prices! You had to take out a small loan to get a bottle of water, let alone beer or food! And the monsoon that ended the whole thing was just icing on the top of the cake! All in all, this was the worst concert experience I've ever had!

Lol not to mention everyone scattered as soon as we got inside. I literally could only find maybe 5 of us once we got inside.

It was all good! Can't fault the Meet Up for shortcomings of the city of St. Pete, nor the weather! It's always great to see all of you! :-)

My first event w/this group and it was a total bust! But not the groups fault! The whole event production was inept and obviously not meant to put on this show! But the people I met in the meetup were all nice and I'll be at the Ale and Witch. Hopefully that will go better. Keep our fingers crossed!

WOW!! Sorry folks for a poor Meetup. Unfortunately too many disasters that day. First we wait in the heat an extra hour to get in because the Fire Marshall won't allow the event to start until 3pm for whatever reason. Then when we get in the power goes out on the main stage so no music for 3 hours. Then the rain comes a short time later to wash the event out.
The Gods were not on our side this day. It was great to see everyone but hard as once we got into the event we were scattered all over the place. I fortunately ran into about 25 of you at some point or another but festivals are hard to get everyone in the same spot.
Hopefully we'll have better luck at the next festival, that is if I decide to do another festival...lol Happy Fathers Day to those that are dads!!

Was more of a Clusterf*&*k then a meetup... Out of the 40+ who were signed up to attend, maybe 10 did. The whole show was a wash(not to the groups fault). It didn't feel like a meetup, just like I showed up to a random show.

Riding with my friend- and she is running late- so hopefully we are there around 2:30! I will text and find you :-) Thanks for the updates on chairs and such!

    1 · June 14, 2014

  • John

Okay, I was told that you could bring a chair but not a backpack but if you have a VIP ticket for the 98 rock VIP section you don't need to bring a chair they will have chairs for you in the VIP section that's why they had no chairs on their website I hope that clears things up.

    1 · June 14, 2014

    • Pamela

that's awesome...i'm so glad we got VIP tickets now...esp with the ground being wet from the rain...& no lugging a blanket or chairs...

    June 12, 2014

    • Melissa

Hi Heather. I live in New Port Richey too. I've only been here 3 days, so I don't know my way around. If you are up for carpooling, let me know! :)

      1 · June 14, 2014

    • Heather H.

      Yes that would be great.

      June 14, 2014

  • Dawn Peterson S.

Was looking at the event and 98 Rock posted that chairs can't be brought. I'm uncertain, but thought I'd pass it along so that people weren't lugging them around if they can't be brought. http://www.98rock.com/calendar/June-14-2014/summerland-tour-373817/

You may very well be right... always seems to be conflicting info provided at big events. Just wanted to throw it out there in case. Thanks for checking.

How many people are going to bring blankets? Do I need to bring one or will there be enough to there to hang out on someone else's ? I'm trying to limit my intake.

Hello John. Any news on if we should bring chairs? I purchased the VIP ticket.

    June 10, 2014

    • John

Yes, you may bring in a chair but no backpacks.

      June 11, 2014

  • John

Just found out that you may bring in chairs to this event but no Backpacks. They are also selling food and drink there as well, so you may not bring in your own food and drink. I hope that helps!

    June 11, 2014

  • John

Please use the website link above to get your FREE ticket (plus a small fee). You need a ticket to get into the event. Even though it's free. They can only have a certain amount of people at the event (fire code).

John, you are so thoughtful! thanks for holding a ticket for me, but when I couldn't get the ticket on that website I made plans to go kayaking. So I'm going to pass on this one. Thanks Daisy

Got the free ticket! $5.60 for two...(got an extra just incase someone needs one). However, to make it happen, I first had to accept the phone app and proceed from there. :-)

    June 8, 2014

    • John

Not sure Mark. I'm trying to find out but because they are selling food and drinks inside, I would guess you can only bring in a chair.

      June 9, 2014

  • John

Hi Folks! Some folks are having trouble getting a ticket off the website. I happen to have about 12 free tickets for anyone that cannot get one off the site. Just leave a note here that you will need one and I can give it to you the day of the event. Thanks!

First meet up with the group. is everyone meeting at a certain location ?
Does anyone know if there will be shuttle parking some where? I am new to the area and parking seems very limited EVERYWHERE!!

    June 7, 2014

    • John

Hi Jody, I will be announcing a meet up spot in the next day or two. There is a small parking lot next to the park that fills up quickly. So, you will have to probably find street parking and have to walk a few blocks. I'll announce parking information as well shortly. Thanks!
