Update: This will be my last update. Check the webpage for any changes.

LJ will be your host on this ski trip due to my car problems. You are all in good hands as LJ is a fun & pleasant person to be around. :) So where to Meetup? Meet at Creekside Cafe before it opens & Local's Cafe (bottom of chair 7) at 12. I will email LJ's contact to the drivers.

Update: Please indicate if you can drive, if you have chains & rack & where you are leaving when you RSVP or update your RSVP.

Christian, Jeff & Roger are the only ones left with space in their cars (driver, city, status & Meetup):

  • Christian Lynn, Concord, open, BASS
  • Jeff Richards, Walnut Creek, open, BASS
  • Roger, San Jose, open, SJ/CRH&AF
  • Fabio, Union City, car full, BASS
  • Josh, San Jose, car full, SJ/CRH&AF
  • LG, Dublin, car full, SJ/CRH&AF

Lots of people from around the Bay Area, mostly San Francisco & Silicon Valley, want to go, but no one else has offered to drive, so please organize a carpool.

Update: If you have a voucher you'd like to give up, please post here. Matt in BASS has 2 for $30 each.

Update: 2-3' of snow at base & summit. Expect light dusting of snow before Friday. All lifts except #2 & #4 are open. Trails are mostly groomed.

Original posting:

A bunch of us went to the SnowFest ski convention and after drinking some free Mammoth beer (LOL), we decided to do a:

* One-day trip to Dodge Ridge this Friday 12/18

The plan: We will get up to the slopes, ski or board our butts off, have a good time, return safely. :)

Note the free DR lift ticket is restricted to M-F. If you work Fridays but want to go, take a day off work.

At this point, things look good, but plans subject to change due to weather, snow conditions or other factors.

There may be some more free lift tickets if you didn't get one. If you have extras, please post here.

Combined Meetup:

From the Dodge Ridge website: http://www.dodgeridge...

Is anyone driving out of sf?

    December 15, 2009

  • Fabio

Stan, I'll be driving and have already arranged to take Janet, Armadillo, and (maybe) Mattew up with me.

Are people still up for this trip? I'm looking for a carpool - I don't mind sharing the driving duties.

Janet (and anyone else who does not have a ski-show ticket), it appears that one way to get a discount may be to purchase a Tahoe Card from Snowbomb (http://www.snowbomb.com/store/itemdetail.php?item=PRD4A3FC1ED6EDFF). The card costs $40, offers lots of discounts, and comes with a free lift ticket to Dodge Ridge. So, even if you only use it this one time, you save $19.

Since we're going as a group, are the tickets discounted? If not, what is regular pricing?

i just looked at the dodge ridge snow report and it says the only had 36" of snow so far so hopefully they get dumped on this weekend. pray for snow!

According to their website, Dodge Ridge is opening this Friday, Dec. 11!

@ Casey, keep up the snow dance. SJ/CRH&AF=SJ/Campbell Riding Hiking & Anything Fun, a sister group. @ Fabio, yep 2 week away. We'll see. If not 12/18, let's push it back to 12/25 or 1/8. Think snow!

It's still two weeks away and there are some good storms heading our way, so I wouldn't worry. If, in the worse case, the snow at DR is still scarce when the 18th comes around, then we can always go to an alternate resort (TBD) and save these tickets for another time. :-)

Marissa at Dodge Ridge says DR will open "very soon" and can open "at a moment's notice". Signing up for eclub notifications is a good idea. Sounds like the the system next week will bring several days of snow. It's been cold enough.

It does appear to be the case. They claimed to have been open. I'm checking now. As to the trip, it's a one-day trip. At this point of the season, one day might be all that it's worth. If you got a freebie pass, that would be perfect.

I have a question... Are we driving up Friday evening, Ski/board Sat day, drive back Sat night? ...Or are we driving up Friday morning, ski/board Friday day, ski/board Sat morn/day, drive back Sat night? I need to know if I need time off from work.

    December 2, 2009

  • Stan

It's quiet over here. All the chatter is on SJ/CRH&AF. I think carpools will work out better than a mini-charter bus. So now the question is who can drive?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
