Every year we try and meet someplace for a canoe and camping extended weekend. This year we're headed back to Stumpy Meadows Lake & campground, with maybe a day trip to Ice House Reservoir, Union Valley Reservoir and Loon Lake. Join us :)

Excellent. Stumpy Meadows Campground is great--very clean, large sites with plenty of trees. Stumpy Meadows reservoir was very low so we did not paddle there. We found & paddled three gorgeous mountain lakes that are in the Crystal Basin area. Cathy, Chuck & Jill paddled Loon Lake on Thursday; Cathy, Chuck, Jill and Dave paddled Gerle Creek on Friday; and Jill and Dave paddled Wright's Lake on Saturday. Surprisingly the weather was fantastic the whole weekend -- pleasantly warm during the day at the lakes, and even got a bit cool/chilly in the evenings/at night. A few highlights for me: saw a Bald Eagle soar above me at Loon Lake; at Gerle Creek Reservoir, I sat and watched an otter carry a crawdad in his mouth, crawl upon a tree stump, eat it (I was close enough to hear the crunching sounds) and then swim towards me & twice growl at me!; at Wright's Lake, I paddled way up the stream that feeds the lake. Definitely would like to plan a return trip to this area next year.

I'm only a maybe. I've got a lot to figure out in order to make this happen, namely how the heck am I gonna entertain my toddler? Usually loops are ideal because then he can ride his scooter in a safe location. Hmmm.

If we move a car out of a parking spot then maybe he could ride around the camp area

Oh. lol Plus we have to go back to Uncle Tom's Cabin and see if our WWCC dollar bill is still stapled to the the shelf where I put it. Ya, Long story. If you haven't been to Uncle Tom's Cabin, we'll be glad to show you, after I run to Georgetown for blocks of ice hehe

If you aren't familiar with the location, it's east of Georgetown, which is south of Auburn down Hw49.
