I've been on a few Fort Bragg rivers, Lake Chabot, one boat-in, Newark Slough, Alviso Slough, Lake Mendocino, and San Leandro Bay/Alameda Estuary and that's about it.
Old Town Camper.
Wildlife and views. I also like boat-in because I can camp in remote areas. I also like that it's an activity that the entire family can do together. Also forces me to work on good communication with hubby. ;) I don't think I'd be in to portage: the idea of carry a canoe doesn't interest me. I'd be "down" with leaving the canoe tied to a tree, then backpacking in to camp. For now, because of the baby, easy canoeing will have to suffice.
Yes. I'd like to meet other canoeing parents with kids.
I know a little but, but could sure use more experience. I prefer lake canoeing for the simplicity, but marshes for the bird watching.
I'm a very, very beginner when it comes to canoeing (need to work on my technique and learn other maneuvers). Husband does most of the work. ;) But, if I didn't canoe with baby in tow I'd enjoy some fast/whitewater river canoeing.
I'm excited that the membership keeps growing. Canoeing the sloughs is great fun, and some of the lakes too.
