Why do you think it is important for kids to learn about new technologies?

We use computers every day no matter what field we are in. You don't need to become a programmer, but understanding computational thinking is critical to being a part of the digital age.

What is your experience either from the teacher/mentor or parent side of getting kids to code?

I have taught thousands of students at Stanford as part of the intro CS program, lectured CS106A, and was a section leader for several years.

What methods have you tried?

Right now we are using our site CodeHS to teach students. We start with "Karel the Dog" to focus on problem solving rather than syntax.

If you have skills that you would like to teach kids, what are they?

Introduction

My name is Jeremy, I just graduated Stanford studying CS and teaching intro CS there for three years. Now I am building CodeHS to make CS education fun and accessible to beginners!
