I thought of Delfina when I saw this. Let's make a meetup out of it!
If your plans change, please be sure to cancel by 10 a.m. on the day of the event.
See you there!

Delicious & fun, thank you very much kent!
Delays on bart, so I might be a bit late. Table for six is reserved under kent
Hey yall, just a reminder, pls change your RSVP by 10am today if you can't come
FYI I just got a second general Meetup e- mail saying a spot opened up and I'm not seeing how to access it on the site!

I agree with Anna - with my work day I rarely have access to my e-mails so I can see it being impossible to ever get off the wait list! It would be great if we could revise the system.
OK, just now I received a general Meetup e-mail saying a spot opened up, so I got on the site and I still see a wait list. This is where I'm not sure what happened - did someone automatically get placed on Attending so the Wait list is still showing? Or what?
We are back to the automatic waiting list. The first person on the waiting list is automatically placed into attending once a spot is open.
Did we ever answer the question how to reserve a spot that's opened up? Also, when there's an opening will we be getting notification from a general Meetup e-mail or will it come in from Bay Eats the way it has in the past? Is that e-mail sent only to those on the wait list or does it go to everyone? Sorry for so many questions, just trying to understand the process.

I'm sorry Victoria, I don't know the answers to these questions -- I've never seen how the site looks when there's an opening, haven't gotten the email myself and couldn't find much info on the meetup forums.
When a spot opens up, the sign up from the waitlist for this meetup is first come, first serve - the same as the initial sign up. So you need to be quick on the trigger when you get the email that I thought I'd do it this way to give people who are further down on the wait list a chance to RSVP to events - it can be discouraging to be #10 on the wait list when it was automatic.
When a spot opens up, you should get a meetup email saying "There is room in "Eats @ Delfina" to say that you're going!" You simply need to be the first one to hit the RSVP button
I respectfully agree with Pat. I was first on the wait list but not fast enough with a trigger finger to get in. I recalled the restaurant no luck in getting another table.
Since it seems like most of you prefer the automatic wait list system, I have reverted back to that.
Thanks, Frances, for looking into it.
Hey Laurie, its great that you gave it a shot for another table at Delfina - not an easy thing to pull off. I wonder if for these small, really popular places we might have a "team" of two who book a reservation at the same time for two tables. Maybe for these restaurants where there will be high Bay Eats demand they can be booked further out so two tables can be reserved for the same time slot. Just a thought to make things easier for our foodies.
Anyway if that seems like the way people would like to go, in the future I'd be happy to serve as the "second in command" and phone in to reserve a second table at an agreed upon date.
Thanks for everyone's hard work on this! Victoria

Sounds great to me
basically any time someone wants to reserve more, provided we have a significantly deep waitlist, I'm all for it
Yea I like the idea too!
I'm all for second/third tables.
Victoria, Whenever I've been on the waiting list, I get automatically promoted when an opening comes up if I am the first in line. I've never had to do anything special, but I have my profile set to receive e-mails from the site whenever a new event is announced so I am automatically notified as soon as a new event is announced. If you're not set up for automatic notifications, you can miss out because the events fill up so fast.
Is it possible to add another table under a new reservation, like my name?
yes most definitely. If you can do this, let me know and I'll move you in. Would suggest to not do it for more than about 3-4 people since usually there is some last minute flaking
ps sorry Kent it i'm intruding a lot in an event you are managing :)
I tried tonight but they are booked up till 9:30pm. I wish I had thought of the idea earlier.
Hey Laurie, had an idea: you might try calling on Thursday when they open and tell them you're interested in a reservation in case anyone cancels. I notice that restaurants often call around the day before confirming reservations, so you might get lucky
Thanks Frances, I will give it a try!
Thanks for your e-mail Frances. I received 2 notifications from Meetup that an opening had just come up for Delfina but when I went onto this site all I saw was the Post area or the RSVP. So I'm not sure how to go about getting on Attending from Wait List.

You know Victoria, this is a good question. I myself haven't seen what the site looks like when there is an open spot that is available to the first responder. I will see if I can find a screenshot on the help pages
Ok based on a forum post, it seems like if the spot is already taken once you login, it will show the blue message that "You're on the wait list"-- with no red RSVP option. However, I couldn't find what the page looks like when the spot is still open.
If a spot has opened up for Delfina, I'm available!

Hi Victoria, the RSVP setting for this event is set to that instead of the next person on the waiting list being moved in, when a spot opens up on the wait list, the first person who responds gets moved in. So be watching your email!
Hey you guys, could you take a moment to update your RSVP if you're not planning to dine with us on Friday.
Kent, I didn't receive a Bay Eats e-mail on this one. Hope I'm still on the mailing list! Victoria
