Stinson beach up Bolinas through Seven Sisters and back

Roger Thomas is the host for this ride and has put together the following description:

This is an awesome ride, that takes us through the scenic Marin County.

Starting at the Golden Gate we ride out to Saulsalito and on to Old Mill Park.

Here begins the first major climb as we ascend up to four corners, from here there is some more ascending and descending as we take the beautifully scenic state route 1 all the way to Stinson Beach.

Here we will stop for fluid and energy replenishment.

We then continue on the 1 with some flat riding towards Bolinas where we take a right on to the Bolinas Fairfax road.

This is an intense category 2 climb up to the beginning of Seven Sisters. We then ride Seven Sisters and on to descend back in to Mill Valley. From here we take the Bike path back to Saulsalito with the last bit of climbing taking us up to the GG bridge and over.

Total distance of ~90km with ~5000 feet of elevation.

There is some intense climbing on this route.

Flat pace - Moderate (14 - 16 mph)

Climbing pace - (Whatever pace you can manage, we will regroup after every climb (directions on climbs is very straight forward))

Meet 9.45 am. Roll at 10.00 am

We will be stopping quickly at Mikes Bikes in Mill Valley at the beginning of the bike path to join with some more Bay Area Cycling riders.

Thanks for the event planning... I have some more climbing practice to work on before I go on intense climbs.

How would this compare to the ride last week? Classic Highlights of the East Bay... http://www.meetup.com/BayAreaCycling/events/136667552/ That one 2000ft climb looks like a bear. I'm guessing this ride is more difficult.

I've done 7 sisters and it's gorgeous and not terribly hard compared to the cumulative gain we did in the East Bay. Never did all this ride tho. I'm cutting the mileage short by joining in Mill Valley wherever he says is good.

Hi David, yes, the 2000ft climb is pretty brutal, but I'd say if you could handle last weeks ride you'll be able. Honestly, the hardest part of this ride for me is seven sisters as it's after the 2000ft cat 2 climb. The cat 2 climb itself actually is ok, just long and sustained. But after seven sisters the rest is downhill. So I would say go for it!!! Nothin wrong with pushing onesself
