Crazy Tracy!

This is Oscar Queso's epic ride from San Jose to Tracy and back over Mt Hamilton. 165 miles, 10,000 feet of climbing. It's CRAZY!

Meet at Denny's, 1390 S First St, San Jose. We EAT then we RIDE!

Pace: Moderate, cruise at 15 - 16 mph on the flats assuming no wind.

This is only one week before the shortest day of the year so we'll start and finish in the dark. Bring bright ass lights and extra batteries. There will be a nearly full moon that night but that only helps so much, especially with all the light pollution being constantly emitted by the cars.

Don't fuck around. Make sure nothing is about to break on your bike and bring extra tubes and a patch kit.

I can't make this, and in any case I think 165 is outside my current capabilities. That said, I love riding Mt. H from the Patterson (east side). Enjoy, and I echo Richard--bring spare tubes & patch, and plenty of snacks/water--there are long stretches with no place to provision/get water. If you ride the mountain from the east, up Del Puerto Cyn, there is a great spring with an spigot just near the bottom of the final climb up to the County line (Stanislaus/Santa Clara) and above Frank Raines Park--definitely get water there. Much better than the water at the park. Full of good minerals, it's Magnesium-rich.

We may ride this counter-clockwise, so over Mt Hamilton first, because strong winds are not forecast for Livermore. In that case we will NOT start at Denny's in Fremont. Stay tuned.

Weather forecast looks good so far: high 62 F, low 42 F, low winds.
