SF Bay Trail Brunch Ride: Oakland to Pt. Richmond with Bike the Bay Cyclists

This 30 mile flat (two small hills, into Emeryville and at Golden Gate Fields) round trip ride will go the entire length of the SF Bay Trail into Point Richmond for our main stop, Little Louie's Deli and Cafewhere we can sit on their (sunny?) deck in back or indoors if chilly. BYO, buy food there or just have a latte!

Highlights include great views of the SF Bay, Golden Gate Fields, Costco (haha,) the interesting Port of Richmond and the 1930 glass Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant (largest to be built on the west coast) now home to light industry and manufacturing. There is a lot of history there. Point Richmond is a quaint, quiet little hamlet not too well known.

The trail is paved and the roads are quiet and bike-friendly with very few stoplights. The parks we pass have water and restrooms.

The entire trip will likely take 3.5-4 hours with the stops. Approx. 14-16 MPH on the flats.

We will meet in front of MacArthur BART at 9:15 AM at the BART Exit.  Depart sharply at 9:30 AM

These two other Meetups are joining us.  An opportunity to meet other cycling enthusiasts!

I hope my comment was structured appropriately. I was treating this like Yelp. I'm looking up Cytomax!

Thanks for coming out from near and far for the brunch ride today. It's always the people that make it the most fun and what a great group we had to enjoy the sights (especially the dump!) Thanks for indulging me with the history lesson and to our engineering specialists for explaining trusses and the new bridge's self anchoring construction.

hi all, Have fun today! Sorry I won't be able to join after all - I was hoping to have finished my work yesterday, but I have to wrap up a deadline project today. Hope to catch you on another ride soon!

Sadly, I have to bow out for this ride. Got hit with a respiratory ailment this week. Too bad, because flat and fast is pure fun! Have a great time everyone.

Hi Cyclists! Looks like we're going to have a nice day for our ride. Please note that there will be NO SWEEPER and remember our final destination is Little Louie's Cafe and Deli in Point Richmond. It you get off track meet us there. We will have very few stops, except one bathroom break, the Ford building and the Cafe. You can peel off anywhere along the ride and get to a local BART if needed.

Use the BART restroom before we leave, no matter how grungy, even though I pride myself in stopping at only the best restrooms along our routes! See you tomorrow.

Looks like a nice flat ride....road bike or hybrid? Franny...looks like you'll be on a hybrid?

    January 1, 2014

    • Franny

Doesn't matter. I'm just taking my older road bike. Last time, as you know, I rode my hybrid. I'm a little more comfortable in a road position on a 30 mile ride.

Linda, this is cross-posted with Bike the Bay and New to the SF/Bay Area and there are already other cyclists signed up. It will be nice to meet each other. We've done this once before and it was great fun.
