Easy-moderate paced 17-mile road bike ride with lots of climbing (about 2400 ft) in the Marin Headlands, suitable for intermediate level riders. This is a classic San Francisco bike ride redolent with the breath-taking beauty of the NorCal coast... and if the scenery doesn't take your breath away the climbs will! But you won't be alone. I am unfit and overweight so I will be taking it pretty easy and will stop at the top of Conzelman and again at Battery Townsley, high above Rodeo Beach, for regrouping and to admire the scenic delights of my favourite stomping ground. On the return I will stop to regroup at the top of the punishing McCullough Road.
The climbs are long and steady, steep in places. The descents are a little challenging, particularly the backside of Conzelman which is precipitous. This ride is not for the faint of heart, but if you're up for the challenge it's a real doozy.
We roll at 9:30 a.m. sharp, no exceptions. So aim to be at the Golden Gate Bridge Gift Shop by 9:25 in order to find us. I ride a black Specialized. Call me on[masked] with any issues.
