Apologize for being late, and consequently forgetting my helmet at the last minute... but mike great day to plan a ride, the weather was freaking awesome, and rare for this time of the year... wish i did a longer ride.

An excellent Meetup! Mike's organizing and previewing of the route was well chosen for our group and its declared purpose. He gave plenty of advice, ahead of the start, on how to dress for what turned out indeed to be widely varying conditions. The meetup in the Panhandle went well, and a delightful group of riders showed up. Mike (and Erin; sp?) led the ride very attentively and cheerily. He instilled high confidence among those who were uneasy about e.g., sharing busy streets and tight roads with traffic, and negotiating passage through intersections. The level of difficulty was, I think, right on for the group (even if we older tandemists met our limits on a couple of hills)--as evidenced by the great majority of riders making all the climbs and no one being far off the pace. In every respect, a fun and satisfying Meetup, and we especially appreciated meeting such friendly and fun people. Congratulations, Mike and helpers!

the fog has backed off quite a bit in the last 15 minutes! I forgot to add that I won't be dressed like my profile pic. I'll have a Dolby shirt on and will be with my grey Marin commuter with a bag on the rear rack.

hey party people! I live near the start, it's clear above me but the fog between here and bay and coast is slow to burn off. I imagine we'll have a mix of fog and sun. bring a light windbreaker. it should be decent weather all around, this has been the best SF summer in at least 3 years.

Parking - I don't drive but I do know you'll have your bikes with you, drive around the area until you find a spot, park and roll to the start.

Peter - you do know the city well!! it was a dumb joke, Ikea furniture is a list of strict instructions that must be followed whereas a mellow bike ride is all about freedom, the ability to change the course on a whim. can you join us this time? you were a big help last time we did this.
Tracey - glad to call the ride, there's no better way to enjoy SF or a summer day than a relaxing bike ride.

I do not understand. There is no ikea on Clement and Busvan has been closed for years.

Hi Mike G, thanks for setting this up and figuring out the route. Looking forward to getting back in the saddle and meeting new people.

Peter - it's a bike ride, we're not building Ikea furniture. we'll ride where it makes sense as we go. safety is paramount. I've been a leader on rides that are much longer and more challenging, we'll be fine.

Why does the route go west on Geary Blvd instead of less busy Clement St?

TdP entry is absolutely not necessary, that's my wife's short term goal, everyone is welcome. difficulty? on the easy side with some climbing. I even shortened the long climb up to the Legion Of Honor to make it easier. roads are 100% paved and the routes taken are for minimal traffic and wide shoulders, I know these roads well. safety and comfort on the road is paramount.

Oh, forgot to ask: paved surfaces exclusively? Thanks, Mike!

    Hi, Mike G.:

-- Level of difficulty? Appropriate to a tandeming couple with moderate skills (1,000 miles of riding)?

-- Open to people not planning to do the Tour de Peninsula (though we'd like to hear more about that as well)?

    Thanks!
