Mt. Hamilton climb

Ride up to Mt. Hamilton. 18miles climb. I don't foresee going much faster than 4-6 mph average. Stop by somewhere along the climb for lunch. Bring your own lunch, as there will not be places to stop by for food.

The San Jose side of Hamilton is a gradual climb without any steep pitches, it's just long. I would suggest waiting until you get to the top to eat. There is a courtyard round back that is sheltered from the wind. There are also a couple of vending machines and a water fountain in the glass breezeway on the north side of the observatory (left side if you're in front facing the building).

The pavement is much improved over recent year so the ride is much nicer, especially the descent. Last time I was over there, it was around 2 hours from Alum Rock to the Observatory (Lap 6 of this: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/182343793)
