SF - Woodside - King Mountain Rd - Half Moon Bay

This ride takes us from SF to Woodside, climb up to Skyline, down to HWY 1, and return to SF via Half Moon Bay. It will be about 75-80 miles.

There will be one rather long climb on King Mountain Rd. See http://graphics.stanford.edu/~lucasp/grade/kingsmountain.html

Bring the usual - helmet, sunscreen, layers, spare tube, pump, water, snacks, and lights.

We will stop for lunch in Woodside (Roberts Market, 3015 Woodside Road, Woodside, CA 94062). You can bring lunch or buy there.

Pace will be about 13-15mph or avg of 10mph including stops. Regardless, this is a no-drop ride. We will wait and regroup at major intersections and top of hills.

We will try to complete the ride in 8 hrs.

Push-off time will be 8:00am sharp. Please note this is the Sunday that time changes hence this will be 8am Pacific Standard time (ie, after you have changed your clock). We need to start early since the day is shorter now.

RAIN CANCELS. Check this meetup before leaving house if unsure.

This ride is organized by the MeetUp Group "Biking in SF - "Blazing the Urban Trail" Ride group. Feel free to check them out and join to hear directly about their rides.

Moraya - I saw you posted this question on Urban Trail also and Peter, the ride organizer should respond. I do not do off road either and I am 99% certain that is not on the route. That said, if I am wrong, I will be riding over Devil's Slide instead of Planet of the Apes so you would be welcome to join me. It is new pavement so a smooth ride though not always with a shoulder. However, it is to narrow for autos to move very fast.

Once again, I am not the organizer of this ride. I suggest you go to the Urban Trail Meetup that I referenced in the original post for this ride and the below. The exact same ride is posted there and you can direct your question to the organizer. Good luck.

Also, Josh has enabled all members of this group to post rides, which is why this one was posted so late - that info came through Fri though the ride has been posted at Urban Trail for a while. So, you might organized a ride for a Wed and see what kind of response you get.

I just remembered that there is a route map on the Urban Trail site. The full name of the MeetUp Group is "Biking in SF - "Blazing the Urban Trail"

Oops - sorry Moraya, I got my emails mixed up. Disregard my Urban Trail comment. I sent a message to Peter asking about Planet of the Apes. Whatever his answer I'm still riding Devil's Slide and would love your company.

Do you have a map of the exact route, or at least more detailed directions? Last Saturday, I did part of this ride from Daly City BART to RWC Caltrain. We went through the Old San Pedro dirt trail (Planet of the Apes) w/c my road bike did not like, and I want to avoid.
