Re: [bike-253] anybody up for a moderate mountain bike ride this weekend? Hey and thank you all for coming! Each of you were quite cool and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the day, even the hike-a-biking :) And it was the first ride I’ve done in a long time where I wasn’t starving at the end of the ride...Let’s do it again soon—Anybody want to suggest the next ride??

Jeff

Thanks for a great ride today, Jeff and everyone else!  'Hope you enjoyed it as much as I!  Great company, views and food! (Thanks for those juicy homegrown oranges and Clif Bars, Jeff.  And thanks, Jeff Kerrin, for joining me at the Farmer's Mkt and carrying all the food!...except the baguette!  And thanks, Lisa, for taking the pics!  'Looking forward to seeing them posted!...

The only thing, Jeff, is that maybe we should have called it a "Biking/Picnic AND HIKING event!   It was great to see everyone still smiling at the top! 'Looking forward to riding with you all (and everyone else) again!

Until then, keep the rubberside, down!

I RSVP'ed Jeff. I think we should clarify that we will meet at the Back Meadows Ranch kiosk near the trailhead to Shoreline Trail.  It's easy to find.  It's the first right coming into the park off of N. San Pedro...

I'm really looking forward to this ride!  The weather has been fabulous, so the views of the Bay should be magnificent!

OK Miki, I can find that.
Hey would you mind rsvp’ing on the main meetup page so people can see that there are actually people going this time? It might help generate some interest.

See you Sunday!

Jeff

'Sounds good. How about if we meet at the kiosk for the entrance for Back Ranch Meadows.

It's near the trailhead for the beginning of Shoreline Trail. http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/466/files/ChinaCampBrochure.pdf

One can park on the street, so don't have to pay for parking...

What do you think?

Let’s stay with 10:00 start time as I need to be back in the afternoon...I’ll be at the park and skip the market then :)

If we meet at the Farmer's Market first, we'll have to meet earlier...or ride later...I would give 1.5 hours bet'n meeting at the Farmer's Mkt before riding to allow for finding parking, transport, getting ready, etc.  The Farmer's Mkt starts at 8 and I was planning on getting there around 8:30 to allow time to meet everyone else at China Camp at 10...But it doesn't really matter to me.  Since I have the least distance to go, I'll leave the start time up to you gentleman and others coming from faraway... :)

Hi Miki,
Meeting at the farmer's market sounds like a great idea. Being from the city I don't know where it is. If it's anywhere near China Camp I should be able to make it to the market by 9:30.

Great, Jeff!  Thanks for your kind offer.  (I see a little stubble coming in...but it's not yet convincing...)  I suggest we meet at 10 a.m. or 9:30, so it will give me time to pick up some yummy post/intra-ride picnic delights from the Farmer's Mkt down the road...Of course anyone is welcome to join me for pre-ride fresh tea/coffee and organic delights/pastries at the Market!

What do you think, Jeffs? ...both of you.

I would be up for a moderate mountain bike ride on Sunday. And I would be glad to act as chaperon. What time are you planning to meet at China Camp? I will be coming from SF.

Miki Hidaka <[address removed]> wrote:

I'll start working on it now...

How about China Camp?  There are mellow trails that can become challenging by turning on a switch back at the fork in the trails...and the vistas are fabulous!

To coax others to join, I suggest we have a post/intra-ride picnic!  In fact, as I recall, there are picnic tables on some trails and certainly at the top of the mountain!  I can go to the Farmer's Mkt before (just down the road at the Civic Center) and pick up some fresh organic strawberries, artisan bread and cheese!  You can bring the beverages!  What do you think?

Will you be riding from the City or will you drive with your MTB?

Hi Miki,

Sunday a.m. is good, I¡Çd love to learn a new trail.

Moderate for me would be rides like Tamarancho, Redwood park, Lake Chabot, Fremont Older or China Camp. Corte Madera, the Demonstration Forest, Henry Coe Park and summiting Mt. Tam would be examples of rides that I love and used to do but am not really in shape for now.

I have a friend who I usually ride with that probably will want to come along, and let¡Çs see if we get any other people from the meetup that want to come too...barring any strong opinions from anybody else that wants to come, I¡Çll let you suggest a ride :)

Just to put it out there, my wife will object if it was just you and I going, so hopefully my friend Gary or somebody else will want to join us.

Talk to you soon!

Jeff

If you would like to ride Marin, I am happy to show you some trails...I am an early riser, too...How about Sunday a.m.?  What trails do you like to ride that are "moderate"? ('Just to get an idea of your preference...Don't have to be in Marin...I am not so familiar with trails on the Peninsula, but know a few --Rancho San Antonio, Fremont Older Space, Corte Madera, Nisene Marks, Santa Teresa) and East Bay  (Lake Chabot, Tilden)

Cheers,
