Re: [BayAreaCycling] New Setting: All members may announce rides

For a bunch of "cyclists" seems like we need to go on a ride and not be wound up so tight and throw insults or email about being insulted on here.

I say get on your bike and burn off that negative energy instead of bashing each other here. Lets try to stay positive on a forum/group that should be about what we love to do - which is ride our bikes.

Just my 2cents.

@Laura     This is not all all woman group, nor an all slanderers group.  Its a cross section of society, so you get the bad with the good, and the people who don't work hard to have a life of their own to raise themselves higher than others, but rather go out and try to attack others to make them wrongly appear lower.  They get some traction at first.  Then truth comes out and we know not to listen to them again.
Its more proof of the quote I use for a byline on my email.

Btw If you want to save face here, tell us who told you the rumor that you're trying to spread.  Then get them to name names til we get to the root of this unwarranted character attack.  Then offer them to either publicly apologize or never show their face again.

Ok. I'm in the same boat - as having joined but not having showed up bc of times etc.
But I really must say Amor, your sexist remark is offensive. Claiming it is a joke does not make it acceptable. It is still sexist.

All this bickering.  Chill out, its only a bike ride.
If someone tells me I shouldn't like someone else, it only tells me that they are the one I shouldn't like, or trust, and wonder what it is they're trying to hid about themselves.
When Ronald Reagen spoke about the Iran/Contra dealings, he opened with an old adage that goes  "nothing spreads so quickly as a rumor,"
Only true cowards take their issues behind people's backs to misuse a court of public opinion and force other to triangulate uninformed opinions instead of privately dealing with the people they have their issues with directly.
I can imagine the furor, and fuhrer followers, that would come out of the woodwork, if I tried to bring back Granny Gearless.
Seriously, shut up and ride.  And for some of you, go read the laws on slander, libel, harrassment, and defamation before you end up finding out that once you put a discouraging word out here, you may not be able to take it back if your target hauls your ass in front of a judge to make you either put up or pay up damages in return.

If you want both sides of the story just ask. I'm certain that any reasonable person in possession of all the facts would agree a cooling of period for a couple of our ride leaders was appropriate. I, like you, hope they'll decide to come back and keep doing the great work they've been doing for the group.

Rumor has it you're a bit of control freak & a complete schmuck. You do no favors to bay area cyclists searching for fun 'meet up' groups to enjoy a ride.
You should consider removing yourself from this forum & allow true leaders to continue with all their hard work.

Greetings all,
Just a quick note that given our geographical distribution around the bay and in the hope that more members will connect with local riding partners, I've relaxed our meetup settings so that any member may announce a ride at any time. Going for a ride? Don't forget to invite over 2000 of your closest friends!
But please bear in mind that with great power, comes great responsibility. If you host a ride, the people joining you are likely going to look to you as a leader. You assume a responsibility to shepherd everyone through safely unless communicated otherwise.
