New Meetup: MTB Camping Morgan Territory Intermediate to Advanced

Announcing a new Meetup for Bay Area Cycling (Mountain & Road)!

What: MTB Camping Morgan Territory Intermediate to Advanced

When: May 30,[masked]:30 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: This is a 2 day event.

Saturday: We will meet at Dublin/Pleasanton Bart station, in front of the turnstiles at 4:30 p.m.

From there, we'll ride on pavement for about 13 miles with an ascent of about 750 feet. Then the fun begins, when we enter Morgan territory and ride on fire roads for about 7 miles and 1500 feet of ascent. This portion is what makes the ride hard, since there are steep climbs, some over 15%. Add to it the weight of the panniers and we have a very challenging ride.
If it serves as consolation, the scenery is magnificent, with Mt Diablo on the north, and views of Dublin and Pleasanton on the south, as the sun goes down.

There are more than 90 species of wildflowers, as well as wildlife in this area, including coyotes, foxes, deer, skunks, wild boars and the always elusive mountain lion, so we'll have a very good chance for a close encounter with some of them.

I have secured a camping reservation for up to 4 people, but can increase the number accordingly. So if you're planning on coming, let me know so I can call the park headquarters.

Sunday: For those who wish to show up on Sunday morning, we'll meet at 10:30 at the staging area, and we'll ride some loops, for about 3 hours. The level of this ride is intermediate, since the terrain is hilly.

For more info on Morgan territory, including map, here is the East Bay Regional Park website:

NOTE: THERE IS NO POTABLE WATER IN THE CAMPSITE, I WILL BRING MY FILTER TO PURIFY IT. The water at the staging area is potable.

Cheers
