Announcing a new Meetup for Bay Area Cycling!

What: Let's fool EL DIABLO and then more ADVANCED/ROAD

When: Thursday, April 1,[masked]:15 AM

Where:
Children's Fairyland
699 Bellevue Ave
Oakland, CA 94610
(510)[masked]

For April fool's day, a special ride awaits us, with many bailout possibilities.

THIS RIDE IS ONLY FOR ADVANCED RIDERS. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS, SEND ME AN EMAIL

Let's fool ourselves and believe we can climb Mount Diablo from the North side, and then complete an 81 mile-7,500 ft climb loop back to Lake Merrit.

We will meet at Children's Fairyland. From there, we will do our first climb through the Oakland hills to Skyline and Grizzly Peak, passing through Tilden park, descending to Orinda. We'll then climb Mt Diablo from the North side, descend the South side, continue through San Ramon on Crow Canyon road, Castro Valley, Redwood road, and then back to Lake Merritt.
Easy, right?

There are several ways to shorten the ride: You can meet us at Orinda(mile 15), Lafayette(mile 19) or Walnut Creek(mile 24) BART stations before climbing Mt. Diablo on the North side.

On the way back, you can descend on either side:

If you descend on the North side, you can catch BART in Walnut creek or Pleasant Hill, thus making it a 50 mile ride.

If you pick the South Gate road, you can take BART in Dublin (mile 58), or Castro Valley(mile 63), which would be the last bailout station before completing the whole route.

NOTES:

The ride will take 6 to 9 hours, depending where you join/bail, so plan accordingly.

I'm starting the ride 15 minutes earlier than usual, at 9:15. As a courtesy to your fellow cyclists, please be punctual and ready to roll.

This is a NO DROP ride. We will regroup to rest and have snacks.
