Bay Area Cycling Message Board › Earth Day/ BP Oil Spill Bike Protests
San Francisco, CA
The San Francisco contingent of the World Naked Bike Ride is holding two rides this week on April 20 and 23. The first ride begins by meeting at Justin Herman Plaza at 4:00pm on Wednesday for the WNBR Earth Day/BP Oil Spill Protest Revival. It will take place mostly down and around the Financial District, Market Street and Embarcadero. The public and corporate media has forgotten about the Gulf spill and need a reminder. The encore ride takes place Saturday, meeting again at Justin Herman Plaza at 11:00am. This ride will go down Embarcadero to AT&T Park, back to Fisherman's Wharf, around the Civic Center where the Earth Day Festival is taking place and other downtown streets. There are no rules pertaining to dress code, it's ride as bare as you dare, but on Wednesday black is encouraged like black body paint, black liquid latex, thrash bags, leather or whatever can convey the image of oil, and on Saturday the color green to go with Earth Day. Even if you don't want to ride, please show up at the start to show support for the Earth Day and the ride's protest message, maybe you'll want to join up and ride after all.
