Newbie Dinner: Fried Chicken Wings at So in SOMA

By popular demand, we're headed back to SO to devour their smoky chicken wings and crispy cherry pork. This event is open to Newbie Members Only.

Who's a newbie, you ask? Anyone who's recently joined BAGs in the last 2 months, or anyone who's never attended one of our events. You can fit either category. If you're not sure, drop me a line. Since you're new to our group, please read through the FAQ (info on our cell, no-show/flake & waitlist policies, etc.).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

Fresh from a K-town fried chicken wing craze, I'm game to try the Chinese dry fried version. Yelpers rave about these wings and say they're different from San Tung's wings (which we've tried in this group). Check out this recent Yelp review:

"An uneasy 25 minutes fell between ordering and devouring, but upon the arrival of the food (and subsequently- the slimmed down check) all seemed to be forgiven. The wings, bathed in a sweet savory sauce, crunched and crackled in my mouth. The cherry pork seemed bottomless and was heavenly rolled in a thicket of sticky rice. We've got to try these wings! Dinner will be served family style meaning that we'll share all the dishes. It goes without saying that the main dish will be the fried chicken wings, but we'll supplement them with a few menu standouts such as the green beans, potstickers, cherry pork, cold brews, etc. SO doesn't have a website, but pics of the menu appear on Yelp.

Please bring CASH, especially tens, fives & ones. Plan on adding 30% to your portion of the bill (10% tax and 20% tip). If you're taking public transit, consult 511.org.

    5 orders of wings, 3 orders of green beans, 2 orders of cherry pork and an order of curry fried rice later, I'm pleasantly stuffed. What an incredible evening of finger licking good food, and stimulating convo on the foodie lifestyle. Thanks for sharing a meal with me.     I called SO to confirm our reservation and the manager told me they plan to be on vacay all next week. That means that we have to go THIS Friday, Mar 29th at 6:45 PM in order to get our fried chicken on. I'm updating the meetup to reflect this new date at time. Please check your calendars and update your RSVPs accordingly. Newbie's still have first priority seating until 24 hours before the event.
