Summer Rerun: Tip Top Tapas @ Zarzuela in Russian Hill (S.F.)

Summer is winding down, but there's still time for one of our summer reruns - revisiting a place that originally had a high signup demand.

In fact, please note that people who were on the waiting list for the previous visit will get priority if they sign up early for this event.

All aboard the Spain train! Zarzuela serves up authentic Spanish tapas (as well as other traditional Spanish fare). We'll be sharing an array of Mediterranean delicacies that may or may not include grilled squid with aioli, sauteed Spanish sausage in wine sauce, grilled eggplant stuffed with goat cheese, braised quail, Spanish ham & cheeses, paella, etc.

-It's in San Francisco's Russian Hill neighborhood. Please allow extra time for parking if driving. Use to plan out a Muni trip.

    I'll start with a couple of recommendations: (1) go early, or you'll likely have to wait; and (2) if you have to wait, then wait--the food is worth the wait! Everything we ordered was wonderfully flavorful. The imported, cured Serrano ham with bread & tomato; sauteed Spanish sausage in a wine sauce; and the stuffed dates wrapped in prosciutto were some of the small-plate highlights. The oxtail stew, pork medallions, and salmon prepared in a saffron-based sauce were all delicious entrees. The LAN Rioja Reserva 2007 paired wonderfully with them all (thanks, Frank!). And, the desserts--yum! Plus, there's the added bonus, as Mike mentioned, of having Swensen's Ice Cream across the street--always room for ice cream. Thank you, Mike, for organizing this great dining experience. And thanks, everyone, for another lovely evening of good food, wine, and conversation.

    Zarzuela came through with excellent food as always. We all enjoyed the multitude of plates we ordered. Unable to choose between Zarzuela's own delicious desserts, or Swensen's Ice Cream nearby, we went with both. Problem solved.
