Join TKEYA for our inaugural Sunset and Moonlight Hike at
Mission Peak: Sunday, May 4th from 7:00 - 9:30 PM @ Evelyn Park and Ride, Evelyn at Pioneer, Mountain View (Carpool Location)
Have you ever been out away from the city at night? Hiking at night is a uniquely intense nature experience, which Mission Peak allows. The park is home to expansive, unobstructed views of much of the Bay Area (as well as a herd of cows).
The sun will set during the hike. We will hike as much as possible by moonlight alone, but everyone should have a flashlight! Red lights are preferred, to preserve your night vision.
Our route will be a four-mile loop consisting of the Hidden Valley and Peak Meadow trails, with 1300 feet of elevation gain. This is just over halfway to the top of the peak. The trails are steep, but we will hike slowly and take breaks to soak in the scenery.
Please bring sturdy shoes with good traction, water, and snacks. Mission Peak tends to be very windy and the weather can change quickly, so be sure to bring a jacket or two even if the day is warm.
Description of the Park (not exactly the trails we will be doing)
Those who wish to meet us at Mission Peak Regional Park can do so. However, parking may be limited. Please be aware that curbside parking is forbidden above the intersection of Stanford and Vineyard. Carpools are encouraged; meet us at Evelyn Park and Ride. We will leave the park and ride at 6:40 sharp.
