BayLISA Monthly General Meeting - All Welcome

Our November meeting will feature the annual unofficial BayLISA membership drive and board elections.

We currently have four seats on the board up for this year's election. Board members serve a two year term and are eligible to serve as officers of BayLISA for one year terms. All board members are crucial to the efficient and responsive operation of the BayLISA organization, and can do this in an average of 1-2 hours a week of time and effort.

If you're interested in getting involved, contact Robert Novak for more details.

We may have last-minute changes to our meeting theme for November.

Depending on some late schedule changes, we may be including a roundtable on the future of BayLISA and what our members/attendees are looking for from the organization. This is a good opportunity to get involved in helping to improve the organization, and perhaps to find something interesting to work on as we grow and improve.

Our meetings are scheduled for 7:30pm on the third Thursday of each month, at Yahoo's Building E in Sunnyvale, California.

For directions, point your map tool at:

700 1st Ave.
Sunnyvale, CA

BayLISA includes system and network administrators across a range of skill levels. BayLISA meets to discuss topics of interest to system administrators and managers. The meetings are free and open to the public.

We always welcome presentation topics and volunteer speakers. Use the "Contact us" link on this page to get in touch with BayLISA's directors.

Please rsvp here on Meetup to help us plan for attendance.

[Also sent to all "yes" RSVPs just now]

The November BayLISA meeting is our annual "business meeting" as required by the By-Laws. As such, we will be having board member elections tonight. All members in good standing as of the beginning of the meeting are eligible to vote for candidates for the upcoming two-year board term. Anyone in attendance is welcome to join/renew and pay the $45/year dues to become a member in good standing on the spot. We have not heard from our scheduled speaker in some time now, and have no synopsis for the talk yet. If our speaker shows up and presents, it will be a mystery talk, but no doubt interesting and useful.

If our speaker does not show up, we will hold a roundtable-type meeting after the election to talk about ways to increase the reach and effectiveness of BayLISA, giving all in attendance a chance to offer constructive suggestions (or even to volunteer to help--you can definitely help out without being a board member or officer).

If the elections, membership drive, and roundtable are not of interest, you may decide not to attend. If this is the case, we understand, and ask you to return to Meetup to change your RSVP status. December's meeting (December 19) is our twice-yearly Short But Cool and we're looking for people interested in presenting a short (5-15 minute) talk or demo at this meeting. If you're interested, feel free to get in touch with me at tonight's board meeting or via email, and we'll get you on the schedule.

We'll share the topic as soon as we get it. :) Might end up going with a non-technical roundtable after the board election/membership drive.
