We are hosting a event which is a series of self-paced hands-on workshops for people interested in learning NodeJS.  Zero programming experience required.

For this first event, we will have fabulous mentors for two workshops.

The first workshop, 'Learn You Node', is for people new to programming or new to NodeJS.  It will start at a basic "HELLO WORLD" exercise and then move on to more advanced exercises about dealing with synchronous & asynchronous I/O, filesystem operations, TCP and HTTP networking, events and streams.  Don't worry if you don't know what these things are - that's what the workshop and our mentors are for!

The second workshop, 'Stream Adventure' is focused on learning the basics of NodeJS streams, and then moves onto more advanced 'real-life' use of streams.

Please bring a laptop and if you can, please have node+npm installed before coming to NodeSchool.  Don't worry if you can't get it working, our mentors can help you out at the event.

If you're having troubles installing nodejs on your laptop, bring it anyways. You can run the workshops using NodeSchool Interactive using your webbrowser. NodeSchool Interactive was built by one of our awesome members/mentors, Henry Allen-Tilford, and can be found at

Food and beverages graciously provided by our sponsor, StrongLoop. StrongLoop is a major contributor to Node.js and is the developer of StrongLoop Suite, a leading Mobile API tier. Learn more at:

Bravo! This was a perfect example of the potential of a MeetUp: a hands-on session with "guides" to help "the rest of us" plow through those little "moments-of- D'Oh!" that are so frustrating when learning something new.
