We are back on the South Shore for this meeting where Allen has prepared a short piece for us to critique. Please email him directly if you would like to participate.
Also, Dennis will lead a discussion on how to analyze our work, using specific examples. This will be the beginning of a recurring lesson where we will learn to deconstruct our writing in order to correct common errors such as verbiage that doesn't advance the plot or that slows the story line; concentrating on description instead of important details; and using passive constructions instead of using vivid language. This will not be a lecture format but instead an active discussion where we brainstorm ways to improve an existing favorite story or member's writing.
