Trail running 101 (hosted by Trail Prancers of Vancouver & Portland)

If you’re interested in an introduction to trail running or just looking for a fun group to run with, join us on our local trails! We are dedicated to running at local trailheads around the Vancouver and Portland areas. Our group meets once a month on Saturday. This group is interested in overall wellness of the mind and body. We run trails for fun. If you are just starting out at a light pace, don’t worry, we will split into two running groups depending on the group’s pace level. Get ready for adventure and the opening of a whole new running experience! We look forward to seeing you on the trails.

Hosted by Kristen Dunn & Jennifer Timmins

Subsequent Meet ups: We will meet up around the 20th of each month. Further event details to be posted.

Tips: There is a great article about trail running tips on Active.com for interested parties to read. http://www.active.com/running/Articles/15-Technical-Tips-for-the-Trail.htm?page=1 This is a good one to check out, plus there are links to other good articles. Dress: Running attire, not too heavy, but dress in layers. Socks with a higher ankle are best to protect from trail debris.
Shoes: Running shoes – road shoes will work, but be prepared for muddy sections. An old pair of running shoes is advisable. Trail running shoes are ideal.
Water: A hand held water bottle specific to running…or a light hydration pack are best. This will be individual to the runner. Runs under 8 miles typically don’t require a water bottle so we will advise if necessary.
Nutrition: A Power Bar or energy gel are very good to have on hand. This is individual to the runner in their own nutrition requirements. Something packaged small is best. Please let me know if there are any questions.
Thanks! Kristen Dunn

If you take SE 1st st east, it turns into NW Lake road. The parking area is near the end of Lake, on your left. Nice big parking area. Bathrooms

Not sure how much running I will be able to do. It could be a combo of walking and a little jogging. So if anyone is reluctant and wants to walk more than run.
I will be there so come do your best and that in it self will be great.
