Social Good Startup Stories: Leveraging (Social) Media For Good

Join Be Social Change and the B Corp Community for our next Social Good Startup Stories featuring in-depth conversations with two social entrepreneurs who have used social media to launch their organizations sharing their experiences, insights, and lessons learned in creating new and innovative forms of social impact. Come hear stories of inspiration and passion on how they got started, overcame the challenges in building a social enterprise, and eventually brought their ideas to life to create new systems, platforms, and business models for social good.

This event is perfect for those wanting to learn about what it takes to create a social venture and see how social entrepreneurs are tacklings some of the world’s most pressing social and environmental problems.

Beer, wine and snacks will be provided! Doors open at 6:30 and we will start at 7:00.

OFFICIAL RSVP To attend you must purchase a ticket on Eventbrite here:

Our social entrepreneurs will be:

Ashok Kamal
Founder, Bennu

Ashok coined the term “green gamification” and has worked extensively with FORTUNE 500 clients and startups to develop game-based campaigns that promote sustainability while creating enterprise value. Ashok’s career as a social entrepreneur spans the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, including launching a progressive entertainment company, leading a youth development organization, and working on Newsweek magazine’s inaugural Green Rankings while at KLD Research & Analytics, the pioneering sell-side firm for socially responsible investors.

Bennu is the leader in green social media marketing. Their sustainability solutions increase enterprise value by aligning clients’ business objectives with consumer demand and environmental resources. Bennu’s mission is greening the standard for a new lifestyle.

Dan Vallejo
Founder, The Mutual

Dan believes that organizations will be most effective when their social values are built into their business strategy. He helped grow OgilvyEarth in three years to a global practice with over twenty offices and helped define OgilvyEarth’s point of view around this belief.

Dan recently co-founded The Mutual, a for-profit social enterprise that rewards people for donating to charity with Perks from great brands. He is the Chief Executive Officer for The Mutual, leading a team on the growth of the organization. Dan fiercely believes in The Mutual’s vision to align the self-interests of businesses and people as a means of change to create a better world, which he calls Profitable Activism. The Mutual has garnered a slew of press attention from publications like Fast Company, GreenBiz, GOOD and Mashable.
